MediaCorp Inks Deal with CCTV8

SINGAPORE, August 23: In a
deal closed through Encore International, MediaCorp Studios will bring
approximately 100 hours of Singaporean drama to CCTV-8, one of the family of
channels operated by state broadcaster CCTV.

All dramas will air on Everyday
Jiayi, a programming block for
regional content on CCTV8 that is co-managed by Encore. The deal includes Double
Happiness, which marks the first
time that a long-form Singaporean drama will be telecast in China.

Chang Long Jong,
MediaCorp’s deputy CEO of television, commented: “This is indeed ‘double
happiness’ for us. Although we have sold many programs to China, this is the
first time that a single TV station has concluded a bulk deal of close to 100
hours of Chinese drama at one go. We are thrilled that Chinese viewers will get
to catch the highly successful long-form drama Double Happiness. For CCTV8 to commit to a 70-episode drama clearly
shows their confidence in our production. We want to thank Encore for their
strong support and will continue our successful formula in creating content for
a regional audience.”

Encore and MediaCorp have
been long-term partners, collaborating in the telecast of Singaporean dramas
such as Love is Beautiful, My Home Affairs and I Not Stupid on
CCTV.
