LOS ANGELES: Worldwide distribution for the feature film Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure, based on Louis Leppard’s novel of the same name, is to be handled by MarVista Entertainment.

Through a previous agreement with Lost World Pictures, MarVista holds the rights for the first movie in the franchise, Mandie and the Secret Tunnel, for worldwide distribution as well. It also secured the option to acquire the remaining four movies that Lost World Pictures’ producer/director team Owen Smith and Joy Chapman hold the rights for. MarVista will launch the second movie at this year’s MIPCOM.

The book series from Leppard includes 40 titles within the Mandie franchise which has more than 7 million copies in print.

“We look forward to introducing the latest adventure from the popular Mandie series at MIPCOM,” commented Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista. “We believe the series has the potential to become a hit family entertainment franchise around the world and anticipate continued demand from our broadcast and home entertainment partners when we debut Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure.”
