KI.KA Picks Up New CGI Babar Series

ONTARIO: Germany’s KI.KA has acquired from Nelvana the first 26 episodes of the new animated series Babar and the Adventures of Badou, a CGI updated version of the classic Babar property.

The series, to launch in spring 2011, will introduce King Babar’s 8-year-old grandson, Badou, and his friends as they explore the exotic world of Celesteville. The show is targeted for kids 4 to 7. It is a co-production from Nelvana Studio and TeamTO in association with The Clifford Ross Company.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou will make its debut on YTV in Canada this November, and is also set to air on TFI in France, Playhouse Disney Japan, Disney Channel in Italy and Spain, ABC TV in Australia, TV2 in Norway, YLE 2 in Finland, DR TV in Denmark, Thai PBS, SRC for French Canada and M-Net in South Africa.
