Republic of Doyle Finds U.K. Home on Alibi

LONDON: The British crime drama channel Alibi has picked up the exclusive pay-TV rights to seasons one and two of the hit Canadian series Republic of Doyle from Fireworks International.

The Canadian crime drama stars Sean McGinley and Allan Hawco as a father-son duo of private investigators. The show will debut on Alibi in October, following on the channel’s recent success with the hit U.S. police drama Castle, which brought in 2.2 million viewers.

Alibi’s channel head, Steve Hornsey, said, “As Alibi continues to roll out a raft of new and exclusive content, we’re delighted to premiere another hit show in the U.K. Republic of Doyle is an exciting and characterful addition to the ever popular private detective genre.”

UKTV’s acquisitions manager, Alexandra Finlay, added, “We’re delighted to have secured exclusive pay rights to Republic of Doyle. With its engaging and original take on the genre the show represents Alibi’s commitment to showcasing the best in contemporary crime content.”
