MarVista to Present Season Two of Prank Patrol Australia

LOS ANGELES: MarVista Entertainment is to unveil a second season of Prank Patrol Australia at MIPCOM.

The children’s reality series was created by Apartment 11 Productions and produced by activeTVAustralia. The Australian format was commissioned by ABC Television for ABC3. The BBC’s digital channel CBBC has licensed all 39 episodes of the second season, which began airing on the channel last month, and licensed 26 half-hours of the first season, which started airing last January. The series is known as Prank Patrol Down Under in the U.K.

The show features the host, his sidekick "ninjas" and guest experts who help kids pull off extreme pranks on unsuspecting friends or family members. The series received Production Investment funding from Australia’s state government screen agencies, Film Victoria and Screen Queensland.

“Blending the risks, special effects and fun of Prank Patrol with the amazingly beautiful settings available in Melbourne and Brisbane, and the incredibly spirited and energetic young audiences of Australia with our wonderful Aussie host Scotty, we have the perfect recipe for creating a distinct and exciting series for viewers of all ages,” said Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista Entertainment. “We’re anticipating a high level of interest from buyers at MIPCOM and look forward to a continued success with Apartment 11’s Prank Patrol format.”

“We’re delighted that Prank Patrol Down Under has proven itself to be as appealing to kids in the U.K. as it is to our huge audience here in Australia,” added Amanda Peppard, the executive producer for activeTV. “It’s great to know that more kids in more places around the world could soon be laughing along with Scotty, the Ninjas and our Aussie pranksters.”

Prank Patrol Down Under is performing well and we’re happy to be working with MarVista, activeTV and Apartment 11 on this innovative and engagingly fun series,” said Sarah Muller, the head of acquisitions and drama development at CBBC.
