Lonely Planet Names Global Marketing Director

LONDON, September 16:
Lonely Planet has appointed Dominic Rowell as its first global marketing
director, effective this month.

Based in Melbourne at the
company’s head office, Rowell will be responsible for coordinating all the
marketing activities of Lonely Planet around the world and developing a global
brand strategy, with the aim of supporting and enhancing the company’s growth
worldwide.

He previously served as a
marketing director at Carphone Warehouse, where he managed the company’s
website and sponsorship of the The X Factor.

Stephen Palmer, the acting
CEO of Lonely Planet, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dominic to Lonely
Planet. We have secured a creative marketing talent, who will bring rigorous
analytical focus and good commercial acumen to Lonely Planet. Our regional
marketing teams will work closely with Dominic to develop aligned global and
regional marketing campaigns to deliver success.”
