Lifetime Movie Network Grows Subscriber Base

NEW YORK: Lifetime Movie Network has reached 75 million subscribers throughout the U.S., and is cable’s fastest growing network for the second consecutive year.

The network had an 11-percent increase in distribution from December 2008 and a 28-percent increase from December 2007. 2009 was the most watched year in Lifetime Movie Network’s history in both total day and prime time across key demographics. The network kicked off 2010 with the most watched week ever in its 11-year history.

Lori Conkling, the executive VP for national accounts and field sales of A&E Television Networks, noted, “Reaching 75 million subscribers speaks to the value Lifetime Movie Network delivers to distributors. Across every area, whether it is local ad sales or audience loyalty among key demographics, this network really delivers in a cluttered marketplace. As a result, many distributors are choosing to reposition Lifetime Movie Network to an Expanded Basic level of service—pushing the network over this important distribution milestone.”
