Latin American Deal for CCTV

ATLANTA: China International TV Corporation (CITVC), a division of Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, has inked a deal with Castalia Communications to take its content to Latin America.

The deal, clinched at NATPE, will see Castalia licensing select CCTV content to broadcast, satellite, cable and web-based outlets in Latin America. The agreement encompasses classic TV dramas, documentaries, cartoons, entertainment shows and feature programs. Key titles include Entangling Love in Shanghai, King of Silk, Taipei Palace Museum, The Great Three Gorges Dam, The Han Triumph, The Yoga Series and Happy in China, among others.

“Castalia Communications provides the combined expertise and vision we require in order to truly support our international initiatives in Latin America,” said Ma Runsheng, general manager of CPEC. “We look forward to working with them to expand this exciting Chinese content into new territories.”

“CITVC’s content lineup is of the utmost quality, so it was a natural fit as we considered Latin American programmers and distributors we serve,” said Luis-Torres Bohl, Castalia Communications’ president. “These are regions that have come to expect nothing less than top programs from Castalia, and we’re pleased to enhance our offerings through this new agreement.”
