Jury Members Announced for 47th Rose d’Or Festival

LUCERNE, May 2: The Rose d’Or
Festival has announced the lineup of 19 jury members for the 47th edition of
the festival, which will take place in Lucerne in Switzerland from May 5 to 9.

The 19 jury members will
be responsible for viewing and voting on the 72 programs that have been
nominated for the Golden Rose award. This year, a record 358 programs were
entered, and the members will narrow the field to the top winners from each of
the following categories: Show, Reality, Comedy, Sitcom, Soap, Performing Arts,
and Arts Documentary, as well as the special Opera category.

In addition, Ben Elton—a
well-known British comedian, television writer, novelist and playwright—is
the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award with the Honorary Rose.
Past winners have included Benny Hill, Quincy Jones, Monty Python, John de Mol,
Herb Granath and Ricky Gervais. For 25 years, Elton has been at the forefront
of British comedy. His television writing credits include shows such as The
Young Ones, Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line. In the 80s, he also served as
host of the variety show Saturday Live. Currently Elton can be seen in on ITV
in his new topical comedy sketch show Get A Grip.

For the Variety category—encompassing
titles from the Comedy, Show, and Reality genres, the jury members include: Avi
Armoza from Israel’s Armoza International Media; Nathalie Bourdon from Canada’s
Just For Laughs; Stefano Torrisi from Spain’s Europroducciones; Amanda Duthie
from Australia’s ABC; Joongmim Park from Korea’s KBS; Urs Fitze from
Switzerland’s Swiss Television; and Colman Hutchinson from Britain’s Celador
Productions.

For the Drama category—encompassing
the Sitcom and Soap genres—the jury members include: Mats Grimberg from Swedish
Television; Roberta Durrant from South Africa‘s Penguin Films; Dr. Bernhard
Gleim from Germany’s NDR; Rima El-Nazer from Lebanon’s LBC; Cecilia Cope di
Valromita from Italy’s RAI; and Shakeel Noorani from India’s Noorani Films.

For the Arts Category—encompassing
Arts Documentary, Performing Arts and Opera genres—the jurors are Peter
Rosen from the U.S.-based Rosen Productions; Arild Erikstad from Norway’s NRK;
Marie Kucerova from the Czech Republic’s Czech TV; Masaru Hoshiba from Japan’s
NHK; Billy McGrath from Ireland’s Sideline; and Helena Jensdottir from Iceland’s
Mypocket Productions.
