Jeffrey Katzenberg Named MIPCOM Personality of the Year

PARIS: Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, has been selected as the MIPCOM 2013 Personality of the Year.

Katzenberg will be presented with the award on October 9, during a gala dinner at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes. The same day, Katzenberg will take to the stage in the Palais de Festival’s Grand Auditorium for a Media Mastermind keynote.

In 1994, Katzenberg, along with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, co-founded DreamWorks. DreamWorks Animation was established in 2004 and has grown to become the world’s largest animation studios. Prior to DreamWorks, Katzenberg was the chairman of The Walt Disney Studios and president of Paramount Studios.

Paul Zilk, Reed MIDEM’s CEO, said: “Jeffrey Katzenberg’s outstanding impact on the entertainment industry is internationally recognised, as he has brought exceptional films, both live-action and animation, to millions of people around the world. The acquisitions of Classic Media and AwesomenessTV, the recent groundbreaking deals with companies including Netflix and Super RTL, and DreamWork Animation’s continuing expansion into the television world, all demonstrate his clear vision of the future of entertainment.”

Zilk added: “We are honoured to welcome Jeffrey Katzenberg to Cannes as the MIPCOM 2013 Personality of the Year.”
