Japan Prize Winners Announced

NHK has unveiled the winners for its annual Japan Prize, an international competition celebrating the best in educational content.

The awards have been presented by the Japanese public broadcaster since 1965. This year, it received 373 entries from 58 countries and regions. Winners will be invited to present their works at the Japan Prize Festival Week from November 17 to 20. The Grand Prix winner will be chosen during this festival.

In preschool, the award for the best work went to Lena’s Farm: Full Nest from Studio FILM BILDER, MINYA Film and ZDF, while the award of honor was given to Tweedy & Fluff from Stitchy Feet and Second Home Studios in the U.K. For 6 to 12, the winners were the Franco-Belgian co-pro Autokar from Ozù Productions, Studio Amopix, Vivi Film and Novanima (best work) and Media Stamped: What’s In A Frame from Sinking Ship Entertainment and Global Citizen (award of honor). For viewers 12 to 18, prizes went to The Brink of Dreams from Felucca Films and Dolce Vita Films (France/Egypt), with the award of honor for NHK’s Let’s Talk About It!.

In the Lifelong Learning category, the winners are Where The Kids Have No Name from JaJa Film Productions and Dhaka Pictures and Walk the Line from CNA and Mediacorp in Singapore.

The Special Prize was presented to NTR’s I Am Invisible, with a jury commendation for Another Body.
