Janson to Manage Acquisitions for Korea’s WiseTV

HARRINGTON PARK: A new agreement with Korean production company Korea Cinetel will see Janson Media take on responsibility for sourcing content for the new HD channel WiseTV.

Janson will acquire between 60 and 80 hours of hi-def content for WiseTV, a new cable/satellite service in Korea that focuses on entertainment for women. Janson will handle acquisitions exclusively for the channel’s rollout, from two hours daily to six hours daily, set for November. Programming for the channel will fall primarily in the categories of women’s lifestyle, health and wellness, fashion and beauty and exercise.

“We have had a great partnership with Janson Media for several years and we know them to have the key relationships and the access to content we need to help us reach our goals of rapidly building the WiseTV brand,” said Korea Cinetel’s CEO, Han-Jin Kil.

“We view this as a unique opportunity to leverage our relationships with content suppliers and distributors around the world in a way that can help Korea Cinetel make WiseTV a real success story,” added Stephen Janson, the president of Janson Media. “We will primarily target English-language content from North America, the U.K. and Australia, which will be subtitled in Korean.”
