CHICAGO: Janson Media has scored a distribution deal with the U.K.’s Crossing Borders Films to release the feature documentary Crossing Borders to worldwide TV, DVD, VOD and new-media markets.

The film follows four Moroccan and four American university students as they travel through Morocco trying to find themselves. Through group travels and candid discussions, the students confront issues surrounding Islamic versus Western culture and find that common experiences help bring them together.

Crossing Borders was produced by the non-profit organization Crossing Borders Education and was screened at 12 international film festivals in 2010, including the DocMiami International Film Festival, the Charlotte Film Festival, the Honolulu Film Festival and the Atlanta International Documentary Festival; it took home the award for best documentary at the Los Angeles Global Film Festival.

Arnd Wachter, the director of Crossing Borders, said: “With its longstanding relationships throughout the worldwide broadcast community, I believe that Janson Media is just the perfect partner to bring inspiring films with an intercultural vision to a wide audience."

“We were astounded when we first screened Crossing Borders,” said Stephen Janson, the president of Janson Media. “We believe it is one of the most important films we have acquired in a long time, and one which has incredible relevance as we approach the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and as we witness the potential of the Arab Spring to transform the Middle East.”
