EDINBURGH: ITV1 received its first win as the terrestrial channel of the year at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, while BBC Three won in the digital channel category.

This is BBC Three’s second win in the category.

BBC One’s Sherlock was named the best terrestrial show, while E4’s The Inbetweeners was named the digital program of the year for the second time.

Among the three new categories at this year’s awards, the award for indie of the year was given to talkbackTHAMES, the production firm behind The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and The Apprentice.

The cross-platform innovation award went to the Million Pound Drop play-along game, from Channel 4 and Endemol. Rob Leech nabbed the win for producer or director debut for My Brother The Islamist, which aired on BBC Three.

E4’s teen drama Misfits picked up the network and fast track program choice award.
