iPlayer Gets Boost from Tablet Usage

LONDON: BBC iPlayer usage via tablets was up 15 percent last month, with 4.6 million requests to view or listen to BBC shows in September.

BBC iPlayer received 153 million requests for TV and radio programs across all platforms in September. The largest platforms for BBC iPlayer—computers and Virgin Media cable—saw slight decreases month-on-month, while requests from tablets continue to increase over time. Of the most popular shows requested, Doctor Who led the pack, followed by Outnumbered, Waterloo Road and Torchwood Miracle Day. Planet Dinosaur: Lost World, Spooks, EastEnders, Mock the Week, Dragons’ Den and Strictly Come Dancing round out the top 10.
