International Digital Emmy Winners Named

CANNES: At a ceremony last night in Cannes, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of this year’s International Digital Emmy Awards, with the special Pioneer Prize presented to Jon Chu for The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers

Highrise: Out My Window from the National Film Board of Canada won in the non-fiction category. The interactive web doc is about high-rises and the stories of the people who live in them throughout 13 different cities. Battlefront II from Raw TV/Airlock for Channel 4 won its second Digital Emmy in the children and young people category. The property follows 12 young people running campaigns to change the world. Shankaboot from Matoota Films/BBC World Service Trust won in the fiction category, marking the first win for Lebanon. Shankaboot explores social problems that are often overlooked by mainstream media.
