Indian Government Officials Join CASBAA Lineup

HONG KONG, October 7:
Sushma Singh, India’s secretary for the Ministry of Information &
Broadcasting (MIB), and Nripendra Misra, the chairman of the Telecommunications
Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), will be on hand at this year’s Cable
& Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) conference.

Singh and Misra will
separately discuss the development of India’s broadcasting and telecoms sectors
during “one-to-one” conversations at CASBAA’s “Subscribe to the
Future—All Eyes Are On Asia” conference on October 29 and 30. Norm
Johnston, the CEO of Mindshare Interaction for Europe, the Middle East and
Asia, has been added as a keynote speaker.

Other previously announced
speakers include IAC’s Barry Diller, ITV Global Entertainment’s Peter Iacono, NBC
Universal International’s Roma Khanna and BBC Worldwide Channels’ Darren
Childs.

“CASBAA and its annual
convention provide a centerpiece for the regional pay-TV industry,” said Marcel
Fenez, the chairman of CASBAA. “During this annual meeting of Asia Pacific
market makers, strategies are mapped out and key decisions really are taken.
This year’s gathering couldn’t be more crucial for the future of our industry.”

The convention will take
place in Hong Kong from October 28 to 30.
