Inaugural BBC Music Awards Lands in New Territories

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has sold the television rights for the first edition of the BBC Music Awards to broadcasters in Denmark, Japan, Ireland and the U.S.

The awards show is headed to DR in Denmark, Space Shower in Japan, RTE in Ireland and Viacom's Palladia in the U.S. Palladia and RTE, along with BBC One, Radio 1 and Radio 2, will debut the BBC Music Awards live and commercial-free from London's Earl's Court on December 11. Space Shower and DR are slated to broadcast the two-hour event in 2015.

The BBC Music Awards spotlights the best in popular music from the U.K. and around the globe over the past year. It will be presented by BBC personalities Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton, with musical performances by One Direction, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Will.i.am and Calvin Harris, among others.
