Image to Acquire North American Rights for Accidents Happen

CHATSWORTH: Image Entertainment is firming up an agreement to acquire all North American rights to the film Accidents Happen from Bankside Films.

The deal will include theatrical, broadcast, home entertainment, digital, non-theatrical and VOD. Accidents Happens is set against the backdrop of the 1980s American suburbia. The dark comedy centers on a mother and her accident-prone teenage son, who both come to learn about life and loss. A Red Carpet production, the film is produced by Anthony Anderson (Somersault, The Silence) and is executive produced by Heather Ogilvie (The Blackwater Lightship, Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger). Geena Davis (Thelma & Louise) stars alongside Harrison Gilbertson (Beneath Hill 60, What’s Wrong with Virginia). A U.S. theatrical release is slated for the first quarter of 2010.

“We’re very pleased to bring this acclaimed film to audiences throughout North America after its successful screenings at Tribeca and Giffoni,” said Wendy Rutland, the managing director of Image Entertainment UK. “Geena Davis brings her unique style of comedy to the film, which will make it a favorite among moviegoers when it hits screens in 2010.”
