LOS ANGELES: The American Film Market (AFM) has teamed up with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to set up a range of events and activities for Hong Kong Day, taking place November 4.

The day-long event will focus on the benefits of production and co-producing in Hong Kong, the range of films and projects from companies within the region and the 2011 edition of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART). The Hong Kong Day activities will include a seminar about co-producing in Hong Kong, market premiere screenings of six films and a cocktail reception for invited guests.

“Hong Kong offers an efficient and skilled environment for producers, a gateway to mainland China and FILMART, the region’s only global film market,” said Jonathan Wolf, AFM’s managing director. “We are thrilled to have the Hong Kong Trade Development Council join with us at AFM.”

“Given our long-time alliance with AFM, we are honored to launch the inaugural Hong Kong Day, especially as we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of FILMART next year,” added Raymond Yip, HKTDC’s assistant executive director. “Through an interesting variety of activities, we hope that overseas film professionals at AFM will discover Hong Kong as an effective trade platform for exploring the Asian markets, particularly the vast potential of China.”
