Grand Prize Winners Announced at Banff

BANFF: HBO’s John Adams picked up the Grand Jury Prize at the Banff World Television Awards and was named Best Drama, while the Best Entertainment nod went to Food Network Canada’s Family Restaurant: The Quons.

Other winners included Passage, produced for BBC Scotland, which was named Best Canadian show; Channel 4’s The Curse of the Mona Lisa as Best Documentary; Bravo!’s I Met The Walrus for Best Kids & Animation; and NHK Japan’s BITWORLD – Rescue Toya! for Best Interactive. 

The night also honored Paul Gross with the NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction and actor Victor Garber with the Cineflix Award of Excellence. In addition, CTV presented the Sir Peter Ustinov Award to Mark McKinney. Plus, Shaftesbury Films received the Lionsgate/Maple Pictures Innovative Producer Award; DVS Digital Video Systems accepted the Deluxe Outstanding Technical Achievement Award; Lionsgate Television was honoured with the Variety Outstanding Achievement Award and Trina McQueen received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
