Granada TV Cracks Korean Market

HONG KONG: ITV Global Entertainment has tapped Nine Planners to distribute its Granada TV channel in South Korea, and has landed a slot on SK Broadband’s IPTV platform.

This is the first North Asian distribution deal for ITV Global’s entertainment channel for Asia, after securing carriage in Sinapore. "Korea is one of the most dynamic markets on the Asia pay TV landscape," said James Ross, the regional director  for Asia at ITV Global Entertainment. "It has important strategic value for Granada TV as a channel and ITV as a company. The agreement with SK Broadband will be an excellent platform from which to showcase the Granada TV concept of contemporary general entertainment. In Nine Planners we have found the ideal partner with the prerequisite sales management experience and track record to introduce Korean audiences to Granada TV."

Sarah Kim, the CEO of Nine Planners, added" "With such a strong commercial pedigree, Granada TV will surely find favour with more operators looking for a channel that offers something fresh, contemporary and differentiated from the current crop of international general entertainment channels."
