Globo Telenovela Launches in the U.S. on GEN-TV

SÃO PAULO, July 17: Globo TV International’s telenovela Cabocla has launched in the U.S. on the Miami-based channel GEN-TV.

The telenovela premiered yesterday night at 9 p.m. on the channel. GEN-TV is currently broadcasting two other Globo TV International productions, Shades of Sin at 5 p.m., followed by Port of Miracles at 6 p.m. The recent deal strengthens Globo’s strategy to develop commercial partnerships with local and regional channels in the U.S.

Set in the 1920s, Cabocla tells the story of the love between the rich lawyer and a shy cabocla, or mestizo,who is facing economic and social difficulties. The cast of Cabocla includes Danton Melo (Little Missy), Patricia Pillar (Little Missy), Reginaldo Faria (Little Missy) and Tony Ramos. Cabocla is from Benedito Ruy Barbosa, who has authored Terra Nostra and Terra Esperanza.
