BBC Worldwide America to Co-produce Pilot for FOX

NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES, October 17: BBC Worldwide America and
Sony Pictures Television have been commissioned by FOX to co-produce a U.S.
pilot of Some Mothers Do Ave Em, the
classic British comedy created by Ray Allen.

Philip Stark (That 70’s Show, South Park) has signed
on to adapt, update and executive produce a half-hour script for American
audiences, along with BBC Worldwide America executive producers Paul Telegdy,
the executive VP of content and production, and Ian Moffitt, the VP of
programming and production.

Some Mothers Do Ave Em
is a comedy centered on Frank Spencer, originally played by Michael Crawford (Phantom
of the Opera
), who always means well but is
accident-prone. Despite his best efforts to succeed and provide a better life
for himself and his wife Betty, he is a walking disaster area and there is
never a dull moment.

“We have felt for a while now that Some Mothers Do Ave Em would translate brilliantly across the pond,” said
Telegdy. “With Philip’s exceptional skills on board we're confident we'll
produce a winning pilot with the ultimate aim of bringing Ray’s fantastic show
to millions of U.S. viewers.”

BBC Worldwide America is also currently producing the fifth
season of Dancing with the Stars for
ABC, Viva Laughlin for CBS, this
winter’s Dance War for ABC and Clash
of the Choirs
for NBC.
