Globo Scores German Slot for Classic Novela

SÃO PAULO, October 8: Globo TV International has expanded its business in Western Europe, inking a deal for the classic novela Isaura: Slave Girl in Germany.

Passion, which targets female audiences, has picked up the rights to the series, which has been notching up deals for Globo since the 1970s. The Brazilian production, based on the book of the same name, follows the adventures and misfortunes of a beautiful mestiza slave in search of freedom. It will be dubbed into German for broadcast later this year.

Elsewhere in the region, Globo’s The Thorn and the Rose sold to Localia in Spain, and in Italy, four channels, including RAI 3 and Rete 4, are airing Globo novelas.

In addition TV Globo productions are present in ten of the 18 countries in Eastern Europe, on 44 channels. Recently, Armenia TV launched Seven Sins in a prime-time slot as part of a volume deal that also included Pages of Life and the mini-series Amazonia. Globo TV International also has a strategic partnership with the Turkish channel Turquia Kanal 1, which is airing Little Missy.
