Galileo Set for Chinese Debut

MUNICH: The sciencetainment magazine Galileo is to debut on May 14 on Chinese free-TV channel Shanghai DocuTV and 14 other local stations, via a deal with SevenOne International.

The show starts airing this weekend in China, and will hold a half-hour slot every Saturday and Sunday at 5:25 p.m. The magazine has been locally adapted from Germany’s Galileo sciencetainment program that debuted on ProSieben in 1998. The show has also been adapted in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Russia, Spain, France, Thailand and Israel, among other territories.

Yan He, the regional sales director at SevenOne International, said: "Knowledge is fun if you explain it the right way. Galileo is the best evidence of that: the magazine has been a hit in Germany for 13 years now and is an international bestseller. We wish our Chinese partners every success."
