Fullscreen to Launch Own SVOD Service

LOS ANGELES: Multichannel network Fullscreen has announced plans to roll out its own SVOD service, which will house original programming such as the Legendary Digital Media series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.

No launch date has been revealed for the new Fullscreen service. Some of the titles on offer will include the aforementioned superhero show, starring YouTube stars Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart; Cameron Dallas and Nash Grier’s The Outfield; the road documentary #O2LForever, featuring the final days of the O2L group; and an untitled teen parody series from Fox, Abominable Pictures and Jonathan Stern and Paul Scheer.

Fullscreen has been credited with boosting the popularity of a slew of digital stars—it relies on 70,000 creators and 600 million subscribers. Otter Media, a joint venture between AT&T and the Chernin Group, picked up a majority stake in the company last year.

The new service “will bridge the gap between social media and television for youth audiences,” said Fullscreen founder and CEO George Strompolos in an email sent out to the company’s creator community.

The email continued: “Fullscreen is committed to cultivating new voices who are capturing the hearts and imaginations of millions worldwide. As an extension of our mission to empower creators, we are providing an opportunity for talent of all types to produce their best work in an immersive product experience. Just as premium cable networks raised the bar for television over the past decade, we aim to do the same with a new generation of creators, stars and personalities. And we’re going to do it our way.

"This will not be for everyone. We’re building something special for a very specific audience—a community of viewers who grew up online and live on their mobile devices. We’re collaborating with both emerging and established writers, directors and actors, and experimenting with several formats, from original scripted series, unscripted series, hosted shows, feature films, podcasts, editorial and more.

"Our long-term ambition is to create the most personal and immersive entertainment experience in the world. We welcome your support and partnership as we move forward.”
