LONDON: FremantleMedia is partnering with digital-content supplier Bluprint Gaming to develop online games based on the 1970s children’s brand Rainbow.

The companies are due to develop a slot game and virtual scratch-card game featuring characters from the classic TV series. Targeted at adults, the games are expected to launch in early 2016. The original show aired on ITV for 19 years starting in 1972. It featured several puppet characters, among them George, Bungle and Zippy.

Simon Murphy, the head of gaming at FremantleMedia U.K., said: “The characters from Rainbow still have strong appeal for all of us that watched the series when we were younger. We are delighted to be joining forces with Blueprint to take George, Bungle and Zippy in a whole new direction online.”

Matt Cole, the managing director at Blueprint Gaming, added: “The Blueprint development team are excited about creating great games with this classic brand. Rainbow fits very well with the U.K.-facing adult-player base, and we look forward to bringing the games to market in 2016.”
