FremantleMedia Inks U.S. Deal on Castro Doc

LONDON, March 7: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
announced two U.S. deals on its controversial 90-minute documentary 638 Ways
to Kill Castro
: a broadcast slot with
Sundance Channel and a DVD rollout via BCI.

BCI has secured the exclusive DVD distribution rights to the
documentary for rollout of a special edition DVD in
the U.S. Special features on the DVD will include interviews with former U.S.
President Jimmy Carter; controversial Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen; and Richard
Goodwin, former aide to President John F. Kennedy.

Sundance has taken the broadcast
rights to the film, with plans to air it later this year.

Ways to Kill Castro
recently aired on
Channel 4 in the U.K. It explores the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba
via the countless attempts to bump off the revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
It features former head of Cuban Intelligence Fabian Escalante, the man who had
the job of protecting Castro for a majority of the 48 years he’s been in power,
who alleges that there were over 600 plots and conspiracies to end Castro’s
life.
