France Télévisions Distribution Reports Solid MIPCOM Performance

PARIS: France Télévisions Distribution has wrapped up a number of deals, and is in advanced negotiations on a slew of others, from its attendance at this year’s MIPCOM.

In the factual category, There is No Such Thing as a Happy Kennedy has sold in Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal, Austria and Finland. It is also set to air in prime time on Radio Canada and TLC in the U.S. Home: Story of a Journey has advanced negotiations in Canada, Germany and the U.K., among other territories. The historical series Apolcalypse continues its global sales success with a new deal to Channel 5 in Russia. Further sales include Channel 4 in the U.K., ARD in Germany, TVE in Spain, Rete Quattro/Mediaset in Italy, SBS in Australia and NHK in Japan.

From the children’s catalogue, Lulu Vroumette is headed to RAI, YLE, RTP, RTBF, TSR, Channel 1 Worldwide in Russia, as well as Canal+ in Poland and Al Jazeera in the Middle East. Advanced negotiations are under way in Germany, the U.K., Canada and the Netherlands. WorldWorld has aired in 90 countries in nine languages. The show will be broadcast on Channel 1 in Russia next year. A sale for the French adaptation is also close to being firmed up in Canada.

The format Des Chiffres et Des Lettres scored an agreement for 200 episodes to begin airing on SBS in Australia this summer. ITV in the U.K. has renewed its rights for Countdown till 2013. Cifras y Letras has broadcast on Telemadrid and on all Forta channels.

Drama series have also delivered for France Télévisions Distribution. The Crime Chronicles has sold to TV4 in Scandinavia. Summer Dreams was a hit this summer on France 2, Italia 1 and Spain’s TV3. The first two seasons are heading to Globosat in Brazil next year. Advanced negotiations are in progress in Germany.
