Former WB Network Exec Heads to Shine U.S.A.

LOS ANGELES, November 2: Shine U.S.A., the U.S. branch of
the British production company Shine, has named Carolyn G. Bernstein,
previously with The WB Network, as the executive VP of scripted programs.

Based in Los Angeles, Bernstein was most recently the
executive VP of drama development at The WB network. At Shine, she will
establish the company's scripted presence in the U.S. market, with a focus on
exploiting Shine's extensive library of U.K. scripted series, recently
bolstered by the company's acquisition of the British production company Kudos.
Shine's output in the U.K. now includes series like Spooks, Hustle,
Life On Mars and Sugar
Rush
.

While at The WB, Bernstein was in charge of the network's
one-hour development, including series like Supernatural, One Tree Hill and Everwood. Bernstein
was also involved in the development of Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek, in addition to being the lead current programming
executive on several of these series in their first seasons. From 1999 to 2001,
she served as the head of The WB's alternative programming department, where
she was responsible for The WB's first non-fiction series hit, Popstars.

Shine acquired three British production companies at the end
of 2006, creating the Shine Group. The Group continues to operate in the U.K.
under four separate production labels—Firefly, Kudos, Princess and Shine.

Elisabeth Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of Shine, said:
"Carolyn has an impeccable track record and is one of the most creative
and passionate executives in the industry. We look forward to working with her
as Shine continues to bring concepts from abroad into the U.S. market."
