Foothill Entertainment Bags Distribution Rights to Hip-Hop Kidz

SANTA BARBARA, January 11:
Foothill Entertainment has landed the worldwide television and international
home entertainment distribution rights to the straight-to-DVD release Hip-Hop
Kidz: It’s a Beautiful Thing,
the
first in a series.

Hip-Hop Kidz: It’s a
Beautiful Thing
is executive
produced by Mark Bacino and Jim Green, who also produced the successful
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movies. The movie, based on the real-life Hip-Hop
Kidz dance troupe founded by dance instructor Suzy Stone, revolves around the
efforts of the Hip-Hop Kidz to create a hip-hop video in two weeks for a
competition that could gain them a record deal. The DVD of the movie was
released last October by Genius Products with a bonus CD featuring music
performed by the Hip-Hop Kidz recording group. In addition to the DVD and bonus
CD, Foothill Entertainment hopes to release a wide variety of consumer
products, motion picture projects, and live touring shows based on the Hip-Hop
Kidz brand.

“We are delighted to
represent this unique and inspiring project,” said Jo Kavanagh-Payne, the
president of Foothill Entertainment. “Everything about this production is first
rate—from the story line, to the hip-hop soundtrack and the choreography.
We truly believe that this film and the characters it introduces is the perfect
foundation for a wide array of ‘tween through teen entertainment
vehicles—from an incredibly character rich television series, to music
CDs, mobile and telephony content and additional direct to DVD feature films.”
