FME Takes on Sex Pistols Concert

LONDON, April 4: FremantleMedia
Enterprises (FME) has acquired the global DVD, digital and TV rights to the Sex
Pistols concert at London's Brixton Academy in late 2007 that celebrated the
30th anniversary of the punk band’s album Never Mind the Bollocks.

The 80-minute concert will
be launched for international sale at MIPTV 2008. Prior to this performance, the Sex Pistols, which
split in 1978 and first reformed for a world tour in 1996, had not performed
together since 2003. Directed by Julien Temple (The Filth and the
Fury, Glastonbury, The Future is Unwritten, The Great Rock and Roll Swindle
), the concert sees the punk band perform all their
classic songs, which includes “God Save the Queen,” “Pretty Vacant” and
“Anarchy in the UK.”

Additional DVD extras
include the Pistols Psycho Map of London, also directed by Julien Temple, in which each band member takes the
viewer to a particular London location that has resonance for them. The entire
recording was shot in high-definition 5.1 surround sound. A provisional release
date has been set for key international territories in the fourth quarter of
2008.

Pete Kalhan, FME’s senior VP
of home entertainment and archive sales, said: “The Sex Pistols are one of the
world's most iconic bands. Their work has influenced the world of music, art,
fashion and popular culture and we are delighted to be handling the distribution
of this historic event celebrating their legacy over the last 30 years.”
