FME Names CEO for EMEA

LONDON: Mel Alcock has been named CEO for the EMEA region at FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME).

Alcock will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the performance of FME’s operations across the U.K., France and Germany, while developing growth strategies for Turkey, Greece, the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. Alcock will be based in London and report directly to David Ellender, the global CEO of FME. Prior to his new role, Alcock was chief client officer at iCrossing. This follows on from his work as senior VP of commercial affairs at Jetix Europe, and head of commerce for interactive programming at BSkyB.

Ellender commented: “Mel comes to FME with a variety of expertise and experience in the media sector. This will enable him to make a tremendous contribution to the business as we look for new areas of expansion, and will complement the strong talent already on board. We believe Mel will embrace and excel in the opportunities presented by his new role, and work effectively with our other regional CEOs to successfully drive FME forward as a highly successful and creative business.”

Alcock said, “Joining the company at such an exciting time of change and progression is both a challenge and a privilege. FME is the largest independent international distributor with a worldwide reputation and significant market presence. There is already an exceptional team in place in the EMEA region, with excellent local knowledge and the ability to tap into the wider global FremantleMedia network. I am looking forward to working with the team to maintain and maximise the FME’s performance in the region, and around the world.”

FME has made a string of recent regional CEO appointments, as it shifts towards a more regional focus while leveraging its expertise across the larger FremantleMedia global network.
