MercuryMedia Picks Up Saltire Titles

LONDON, January 21: Independent distributor MercuryMedia has
acquired two new documentary titles from the Scottish firm Saltire Film &
Television Productions.

St Andrews: Behind the Greens and The Boys of Ballikinrain, both produced for BBC Scotland, will be joining other Saltire
properties in the Mercury catalogue, including the historical biographies The
Three Lives of William Wallace
and Robert
Bruce: King of Scots
.

St Andrews: Behind the Greens is a portrait of the Old Course at St Andrews, told from the point of
view of the eccentric and dedicated team of caddies, green-keepers and club
officials who maintain the ago-old traditions of the club.

The two-part The Boys of Ballikinrain chronicles the lives of five boys living in
residential care in the baronial castle of Ballikinrain. The program was filmed
over a one-year period.

“[The
programs] will make valuable additions to our ever-growing catalogue,” said
Jason McGeown, Mercury’s head of acquisitions. “Saltire produces high-quality
documentaries with an emphasis on high production values and storytelling and
we are delighted to be working on their two newest titles.”

“Over the
last 12 months, Mercury has proved that they can find international audiences
for our documentaries, which is why we had no hesitation in working with them
again,” said Aileen Kane, the head of production at Saltire.
