Five Life Takes Shed Dramas

LONDON, January 11: Five
in the U.K. has acquired two ITV dramas from indie Shed Productions for its
female skewing Five Life channel.

The network has acquired Bad
Girls
, set in a fictional women’s
prison, and Footballers’ Wives,
following the lives of the fictional Earls Park Football Club players and their
wives. Season one will transmit on Five Life in the spring. The deal was
negotiated between Katie Keenan, deputy controller of acquisitions at Five and
Tom McClelland, sales director at Screentime Partners, the distribution company
recently acquired by Shed Productions.

Nick Thorogood, the
controller of Five Life and Five US, noted, “Bad Girls and Footballers’ Wives are terrific dramas; groundbreaking and great
fun—perfect additions to Five Life where we have already brought our
viewers a rich mix of drama and entertainment.”

Five launched its two new
digital channels Five US and Five Life in October last year.
