Five Commissions Doc Based on Dan Brown Novel

LONDON: Five has commissioned Parthenon Entertainment to produce a one-off doc exploring the facts behind Dan Brown’s new bestselling novel The Lost Symbol.

The Lost Symbol: Truth or Fiction will air October 21—five weeks after the publication of Brown’s follow-up to The Da Vinci Code. The one-hour special explores the Freemasons secret society, delving into its originals and evolution—membership is now estimated at 5 million. Five’s commissioning editor for factual, Sally Kenchington, said the doc "gives a unique insight into the world of the Freemasons. It’s a remarkable achievement to turn around a documentary so soon after Brown’s book has been published.”

Danny Tipping, the director of production at Parthenon Entertainment, added: “It’s been great working with Five to produce this documentary. I feel we have delivered a really exciting up-to-date interpretation of this fascinating subject.”
