Fireworks Takes on New Awards Show

LONDON/CANNES, October 11: At MIPCOM this week, Fireworks
International is showcasing the 2006 Women’s World Awards, which take place
next week in New York, and the new kids’ series Young Dracula.

The Women’s World Awards, founded by Mikhail Gorbachev, take
place October 14 at Manhattan Center Studios. Co-hosted by Teri Hatcher and
featuring performances by Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Il Divo and Chaka Khan,
the event will honor Whoopi Goldberg, Sharon Stone, Susan Sarandon, Claudia
Schiffer, HM Queen Noor of Jordan, Mary J. Blige and Lucy Liu. Former winners
include Sarah, The Duchess of York, Oprah Winfrey, Linda Evangelista, Catherine
Deneuve, Bianca Jagger, Christiane Amanpour and Donatella Versace.

This market also sees the international launch of the BBC
kids’ comedy series Young Dracula, about
the friendship between a rebellious tween and the son of Count Dracula, who
recently relocated to the U.K. from Transylvania.
