HONG KONG: As it continues to expand in the Asia-Pacific region, FOX International Channels (FIC) has appointed Quan Lao as territory head for FIC’s Vietnam operations, while Campbell Walker becomes territory head for Indonesia.

In his role, Walker will be responsible for expanding FIC’s operations in Indonesia and overseeing the distribution business on both new operators and platforms. He will also oversee channel portfolio, localized content, packaging, marketing and local advertising sales.

Walker has a history of building brands and exploiting new business development opportunities in the satellite and cable TV business in Southeast Asia, having previously worked for Star TV, ESPN Asia, Kabelvision/First Media and Bali interactive. He will report to Avi Himatsinghani, senior VP and general manager of Southeast Asia for FIC.

“It’s a very exciting time to be joining FIC, as the company continues to expand and consolidate its leadership position in Asia,” said Walker. “Indonesia’s pay-TV scene is very dynamic and I look forward to helping FIC to further grow in this market by continuing to provide premium and localized content to viewers, and a terrific platform for brands and advertisers.”

Lao will lead FIC’s expansion operations in Vietnam, also overseeing new operators and platforms, channel portfolio, localized content, packaging, marketing and local advertising sales. Lao will focus on maintaining the strength of the distribution network in Vietnam, which holds one of the fastest-growing pay-TV markets in Asia.

An advertising veteran, Lao has worked for 12 years as an account manager for three international advertising agencies. He will report to Edwina Ngao, FIC VP and Mainland China territory head.

“Vietnam is already a very strong market for FIC in Southeast Asia and I look forward to developing it even further,” said Lao. “I’ll be working closely with local partners to ensure continued expansion in terms of both coverage and content.”
