FIC Plans Multiplatform Launch for The Cell

LOS ANGELES, October 3: The
Cell
, a short-form drama from
Endemol, will be rolled out across Fox International Channels’ (FIC) global
network of websites, TV, mobile and IPTV channels.

The 20×2-minute series
centers on a man who finds himself locked in a lawless prison with no idea of
how or why he is there. The Cell will
be broadcast internationally from one main website, thecell.tv, supported by
FIC’s existing portals across Latin America, Turkey, Iberia, Italy and the U.K.
FIC is currently developing a game in Argentina to complement the series, as
well viral elements to support its promotion.

Pablo Silva, Fox
International Channels’ VP of global online publishing, said: “There’s a lot
being said about original online content, but you don’t see a lot of companies
leveraging as many platforms, in as many territories as us. The Cell will be available concurrently on our websites,
our linear channels and mobile outlets. We’re very excited about the prospects,
and already have our eyes on a number of projects to be launched similarly.”

The show has already been
broadcast on 02’s mobile network in the U.K. and on Sony’s online video service
in the U.S., crackle.com. FIC is looking for partnerships and syndication
opportunities for The Cell.
