FIC Picks Up New Ryan Murphy Drama

LOS ANGELES/LONDON: FOX International Channels (FIC) has signed a multi-territory licensing deal with Twentieth Century Fox for the new Ryan Murphy series American Horror Story.

American Horror Story is an hour-long, 13-episode drama series produced by 20th Television, with Murphy (Nip/Tuck, Glee) and Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk, as well as Dante Di Loreto (Glee) as executive producers. It is set to premiere October 5 on FX in the U.S. Internationally, American Horror Story and The Walking Dead will run back-to-back starting the week of November 7. It is about Ben and Vivien Harmon (Dylan McDermott, The Practice; Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights) who move from Boston to Los Angeles with their daughter into an old mansion with dark secrets.

"FIC has proven that it can launch a series around the world by treating it as a blockbuster movie,” said Hernan Lopez, the president and CEO of Fox International Channels. “We believe American Horror Story is the next global hit that our viewers and platforms have come to expect from our channels."

Marion Edwards, the president of international television at Twentieth Century Fox, added, “American Horror Story is the next great water-cooler series, and we are thrilled that it will be the next major international launch for FIC following their unprecedented success with The Walking Dead.”
