Fanny Hill Headlines FME’s Slate for the AFM

LONDON, October 25: Topping FremantleMedia Enterprises’s
(FME) slate for the AFM this year is the film Fanny Hill, based on John Cleland’s novel Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure and adapted by award-winning screenwriter Andrew
Davies.

Produced by Sally Head Productions (The Fingersmith), Fanny Hill centers on an orphan named Fanny, played by newcomer Rebecca Night, who
becomes a prostitute in a brothel and eventually climbs up the social ladder in
18th-century London. The film co-stars Hugo Speer (The
Full Monty
) and Samantha Bond (best known
for her role as Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond movies).

FME holds the worldwide rights to Fanny Hill, which is available in two versions, to meet the
requirements of both moderate and more adult audiences.

David Ellender, FME’s CEO, commented: “Fanny Hill is like a breath of fresh air and a worthy example
of British film-making at its best. The AFM is the perfect showcase for this
classic adaptation.”
