CANNES: The union of air traffic controllers in the European Union has said it is postponing its strike that had been scheduled for the last day of MIPCOM.

The industrial action on October 10 had threatened to derail the travel plans of numerous MIPCOM attendees. ATCEUC now says it is giving the EC “the chance to correct past errors regarding the way they have dealt with social dialogue and therefore expects fast and clear resolutions. Otherwise, ATCEUC and its union members, representing 14,000 ATCOs throughout Europe, are fully ready to take further and stronger actions in the next few weeks, including those that have been now postponed.”

Reed MIDEM had put a number of contingency plans in place to assist attendees in the event of a strike.
