eOne Reports Strong Growth in TV Unit

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO/LONDON: First-half revenues from Entertainment One’s (eOne) television group were 70 percent higher than the previous period, as the unit delivered 138 half-hours of programming, up 89 percent by comparison.

Overall eOne had increasing sales in the period—the six months ended September 30—of 8 percent. Revenue in the entertainment division was up by 16 percent, led by a number of strong releases in the film business and the increased TV programming deliveries. The film business released 89 movies theatrically, compared to 74 releases in the prior period. Among the strongest titles were Looper, The Sweeney and The Sapphires. Around 100 releases are planned for the second half of the year, including the final installment in the hit Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part 2. The TV business also had a strong first half, delivering 138 half-hours, compared to the 73 half-hours delivered in the prior period. Broadcast successes includes season renewals for Call Me Fitz, Rookie Blue, Hell on Wheels and the new series Saving Hope, which has already received a second-season order.
