Entertainment Rights Expands Latin American Presence

LONDON, May 15: Entertainment
Rights (ER) has bolstered its presence in Latin America by inking various deals
with key broadcasters such as Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and National
Geographic Latin America.

Disney Channel Latin America has
picked up the new George of the Jungle series
for premiere later this year. The series will also launch this fall on Cartoon
Network in the U.S., Teletoon in Canada and Nickelodeon in the U.K. In another
Latin American broadcast deal, Cartoon Network Latin America has acquired the Casper
Scare School
series and movie, as well the
U.K.’s hit Basil Brush series. Cartoon
Network Latin America also acquired TV specials from ER that include Casper
Spirited Beginning, Frosty the Snowman, Legend of Frosty, Frosty Returns
and Peter Cottontail—The Movie. Meanwhile, National Geographic Channel Latin America has
acquired the pay-TV rights to the educational children’s series Cubeez, which will spearhead their new preschool block Nat Geo y
Yo
.

In addition, ER has secured
several home video distribution deals in Latin America. Zima Kids in Mexico
secured the rights to He Man, She Ra, Felix The Cat, and Underdog Show. Brazil’s Focus Filmes picked up Mr. Magoo, He Man and She Ra. Quality
Films purchased video rights for He Man in
Chile and Argentina. Tycoon has acquired the pan-Latin American rights to Transformers
Armada
for release this spring and LogOn Multimedia has
secured rights to My Parents Are
Aliens
in Brazil.
