Endemol Makes Senior Appointment to Acquisitions Team

LOS ANGELES: Philippe Maigret, formerly the senior VP of business strategy and development at Disney, has been named executive VP of acquisitions for North America at Endemol.

 
Maigret will be based in Los Angeles and will work closely with Endemol USA, Endemol Worldwide Distribution and Endemol Group’s global format operation. He will be responsible for growing the company’s portfolio in North America, with a focus on scripted programming. His remit also includes identifying and securing distribution rights to programs, formats and libraries across genres such as drama, comedy, reality, sport and entertainment.
 
At Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, Maigret was responsible for expanding the business globally across program, channel and new-media distribution. He also led the company’s move into the international production of reality and scripted TV formats. His movie credits include serving as an executive producer on The Young Americans and co-executive producer on Boiling Point, along with production responsibilities on Murder in the First and Stargate.
 
Maigret takes up his new role at Endemol in March. He will report to Tom Toumazis, the chief commercial officer at Endemol Group. Toumazis commented: “Philippe has a track record that spans production, distribution, acquisition, business management and development. He has developed strong relationships within the Hollywood creative community as well as with television networks globally and is a proven effective negotiator. He couldn’t be better qualified for this new role, which will be key to the strategic growth of Endemol’s global distribution activities.”
 
Philippe added: “2009 saw Endemol transform its distribution business and take giant leaps forward in areas such as sport and drama. The group is now in an extremely strong position to build on this and the development of a significant new portfolio of U.S. content is set to play a central role.
