EM.Entertainment Takes Stake in New U.S. Kids’ Multiplatform Service

UNTERFOEHRING, February 9: EM.Entertainment has taken a
22.5-percent stake in Kabillion, the multiplatform kids’ destination launched
by Taffy Entertainment in conjunction with REMIX Entertainment Ventures last
month.

Kabillion is targeted to kids aged 5 to 12. It is available on
Comcast’s digital cable on-demand package and via an online site. The initial
programming lineup includes, from Taffy, the CGI comedy Pet Alien and the anime trading card-themed Mix Master:
King of Cards
, among others. EM.Entertainment
fare available on Kabillion includes the action comedy series Staines
Down Drains
as well as The World
of Tosh
. This venture also anticipates
creating new co-productions between EM.Entertainment and Taffy Entertainment.

The deal grants EM.Entertainment a foothold in the U.S.
market, as well as bolsters its multiplatform initiatives. “With our
shareholding in Kabillion, EM.Entertainment has achieved two important
milestones,” said Susanne Schosser, the managing director of EM.Entertainment.
“On the one hand we are expanding our activities in the video-on-demand sector,
whilst on the other, we are also opening up the world’s largest media market
for our children’s and youth programs. The capabilities of all partners form a
strong basis and it is our shared objective to establish Kabillion as one of
the leading free-VOD providers for children and young people in the U.S.”
