TEN Sublicenses 60 Minutes Content to Nine

SYDNEY, February 9: Network Ten is sublicensing up to 25
segments per year from 60 Minutes in the
U.S. to fellow Australian
broadcaster Nine Network, which is home to the local version of the
investigative magazine series.

TEN has the exclusive Australian broadcast rights to
U.S.-produced 60 Minutes content under
its long-term program supply agreement with CBS Paramount International
Television. Nine Network, meanwhile, launched its own Australian version of the
acclaimed series in 1979.

Nine will have a specific time from the U.S. telecast date
to inform TEN it has selected 60 Minutes'
content for broadcast. It is not yet clear what TEN will do with the content
not selected by Nine.

“TEN sought expressions of interest from all Australian free
to air broadcasters, and the Nine Network positioned themselves as preferred
bidder,” said Grant Blackley, the CEO of TEN. "To that end, TEN negotiated
with Nine towards a commercial outcome with which we are absolutely delighted.
This arrangement provides TEN an efficient way to manage the literally hundreds
of hours of CBS News and 60 Minutes
content delivered under our agreement with CBS Paramount."
