Edinburgh TV Festival Reveals Awards Shortlist

The Edinburgh TV Festival has revealed the shortlist of nominations for the Edinburgh TV Awards, which this year sees categories expanded further to recognize online content as well as smaller production companies.

The best international drama category features Killing Eve, The Good Fight, The Handmaid’s Tale season two, Bron/Broen/The Bridge, The Haunting of Hill House and Narcos: México. The nominees for best U.K. drama are Sex Education, Patrick Melrose, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Brexit: The Uncivil War, Line of Duty season five and Bodyguard.

The category for best comedy series features Fleabag season two, Famalam, Derry Girls season two, Catastrophe season four, Stath Lets Flats and After Life.

In the documentary category, the nominees are Bros: After the Screaming Stops, Stephen: The Murder That Changed a Nation, Dynasties, Louis Theroux’s Altered States, Leaving Neverland: Michael Jackson and Me and The Abused. The nominees for best factual series are 60 Days on the Street, SAS: Who Dares Wins, The Great British Bake Off, Race Across the World, Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds and Harry’s Heroes: The Full English.

Best entertainment series contenders are Gogglebox, The Big Narstie Show, The Last Leg, Hunted season 4, The Greatest Dancer and Britain’s Got Talent.

Up for the channel of the year award are BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Nominees for best specialist channel are Crime+Investigation, HISTORY, BBC Four, Sky Arts, MTV and Comedy Central UK. The contenders for the U.K. broadcaster VOD of the year are BBC iPlayer, All 4 and ITV Hub. BBC Three, Barcroft TV and Real Stories, Little Dot Studios are up for online channel of the year.

The nominees for production company of the year are CPL Productions, ITN Productions, Merman Television, Studio Lambert, Two Brothers Pictures and World Productions. Small indie of the year contenders are Blakeway North, Kalel Productions, Lambent Productions, Mighty Productions, Renowned Films and Spelthorne Community Television.

Nabhaan Rizwan, Tamara Lawrance, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Mo Gilligan, Ncuti Gatwa and Lola Petticrew are nominated for best breakthrough talent.
