Eastern Europe Pay-TV Revenues Projected to Double

LONDON, June 23: The
pay-TV sector in Central and Eastern Europe will be worth some $12 billion in
2013, up from $5.6 billion last year, according to a new report.

When advertising revenues
are added, the market will be worth more than $23 billion in 2013, according to
Eastern European TV from
Informa Telecoms & Media.

Poland will rake in $3.6
billion by 2013, versus $1.8 billion last year. Russian pay-TV revenues will
soar from $910 million to $2.65 billion. The Czech pay-TV market will be worth
$1.2 billion in five years’ time, followed by Romania with $815 million and
then Hungary with $735 million.

The report also cites
gains made in the transition to digital TV. Russia will be home to 17.7 million
digital homes by 2013, with 11.9 million in Poland, 5 million in the Czech
Republic and 4.5 million in Romania.
